The Libertyland TIF is UNFAIR to existing small businesses in the Rapid City area. There are approximately 130 campgrounds and RV parks within a twenty-five mile radius of Rapid City. This massive TIF gift is a recipe to put a lot of these small businesses, which have been paying taxes for decades, at serious risk. Since when does government get to pick winners and losers?

CRONEYISM AND IRRESPONSIBILITY

The Libertyland TIF is IRRESPONSIBLE! The $47 Million ($47,000,000) discretionary fund means developers can spend public mony on nearly anything – except housing. This amount is extraordinarily high by national standards. In Rapid City, only four active TIFs have any discretionary funds at all! Just look at how out-of-whack the Discretionary Account is!
